KHALED AT HADIYA, THE HEJAZ
KHALED AT HADIYA, THE HEJAZ
“We drove deep into the Hejaz to find this locomotive at Hadiya, part of the same train network that was sabotaged by TE Lawrence and his guerrilla forces over a hundred years ago as Britain manoeuvred to oust the Ottomans from the Middle East. The site was totally deserted, the carcasses of the carriages and station preserved in situ by their remoteness and the dry heat of the desert.”
